Why does New Song do what we do? This series walks through the heart behind our church—helping people know God by reaching the lost, creating worshippers, developing disciples, building the family, and activating difference makers. When you know the why, the what makes sense.

Reaching the Lost

Habakkuk 2:2 “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.

We exist to: “Help People Know God”

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint.

cast off restraint = do their own thing.

Helping People Know God means we help people step into a real relationship with God.

Creating Worshippers

We exist to Help People Know God

  6. You Were Created to Worship.

Isaiah 43:7 Bring to me all the people who are mine, whom I made for my glory

glory = doxa = to worship

1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

If you are not choosing to worship God, you are not choosing to worship nothing, you are actually choosing to worship everything else.

  1. Worship is Love Expressed.

When we worship, we are not initiating love, you are responding to love.

Developing Disciples

Matthew 28:19-20 Go and make disciples of all the nations,
ethnos = people groups or ethnic groups.

  1. To be a disciple I must follow Jesus.

John 12:26 If you want to be my disciple, follow me and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow me as my disciple, the Father will shower his favor upon your life.

Following Jesus is a choice.

You’re as close to God as you choose to be.

  1. To be a disciple I must love Jesus supremely.

Building The Family

Building the Family

The church is a family

John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Hebrews 2:11 Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. And that is why Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brothers and sisters.

Ephesians 2:19 You are therefore no longer mere foreigners or persons excluded from civil rights. On the contrary you share citizenship with God's people and are members of His family.

God is your father
Jesus is your brother
You are in the family of God
and the family of God is the church.

1 Timothy 3:15 God's family is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Activating Difference Makers

Mark 10:43 You are to lead by a different model. If you want to be the greatest one, then live as one called to serve others. Difference Makers Lead Difference Makers Lead by a Different Model Difference Makers Lead by Living to Serve Others Greatness is not measured by how many people serve me, but by how many people I serve. ANYONE can serve so ANYONE can be great. Traits of the good and faithful servants: · They did their work promptly. · They did their work with perseverance. · They did their work with success. · They were ready to give an account to their master. Traits of the useless servant: · He didn’t think. · He didn’t work. · He didn’t even try. · He made excuses.
