Fixing Our Eyes

What you fix your eyes on determines the direction of your life. This series is about seeing beyond what your senses report—putting faith in the real Jesus, refusing to stay stuck staring at the past, and intentionally giving God our worship, our giving, and our time. Faith is our handle on what we can't see.

Seeing Beyond Your Senses

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see what we see in the physical did not come from anything that can be seen.

Mark 8:11-13 ...They demanded that He show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove His authority. 12 When He heard this, He sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.” 13 So He got back into the boat and left them, and He crossed to the other side of the lake.

Mark 8:14-16 But the disciples had forgotten to bring any food.

Faith in the Real Jesus

  1. Faith Is Fundamental

Hebrews 1:1-2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it, the elders obtained a good testimony.

Hebrews 11:1-2 (MSG) The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.

1 Corinthians 2:14-15 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Fixing Our Eyes on the past

Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
