This February, New Song Church is returning to Winneba, Ghana, to serve alongside our New Song Network partner, The Pearl House. At the heart of The Pearl House are the Pearls: young women once at risk of abuse, child marriage, trafficking, and other forms of exploitation. Through safe residential care, education, counseling, vocational training, and discipleship, The Pearl House surrounds these young women with protection and opportunity while helping them know their identity and purpose in Christ and equipping them to impact their families, communities, and nation. New Song has the privilege of an ongoing relationship with this ministry, and once again, we are answering the call to show up, serve, and strengthen the hands of our Ghanaian brothers and sisters.
A mission trip may be brief, but it becomes part of something much longer. The Pearl House describes each person who comes alongside as adding another nail to a house of faith, making it stronger. Our team will step into the daily life of this ministry through practical service, encouragement, relationship, and Gospel-centered presence, serving the needs placed before us and reinforcing the work being carried forward every day. We believe in the power of the global Church, each part bringing what God has placed in its hands for the strengthening of the whole Body.
There is a place in this mission for men and women, ages 16 and up, willing to show up as the family of God. There is something powerful about fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters crossing an ocean to embody the steady, faithful love of Christ to young people who have not always known what it means to be protected, valued, and faithfully shown up for. You may paint a wall, teach a skill, play with a child, encourage a staff member, sit across from a Pearl and hear her story, or simply be a safe and steady presence. Whatever is placed in our hands, we will use it to strengthen the house of faith being built. The nations are His inheritance, and His inheritance is people. May we be found willing to cross the ocean to love, serve, and remind them that they belong to Him. Will you answer the call?
