Big Idea:

Jesus is the true King, worthy of our worship.

Read Together

Matthew 2:10–11– "When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him."

The Story

After Jesus was born, some wise men saw a bright star in the sky. They traveled a long way to find the newborn King. They weren't from Israel—they came from faraway lands. But they knew this special star meant a King had been born.

When they found Jesus, they bowed down and worshiped Him. They gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These weren't toys or snacks—these were gifts for a King.

But not everyone was happy. King Herod was jealous. He wanted to stay king and didn't want Jesus to take his place. The wise men listened to God's warning and went home a different way, safe from Herod's schemes.

Advent Connection

The wise men remind us that Jesus isn't just Israel's King—He's King of all nations. At Christmas we remember that the light of Christ shines for the whole world.

Talk About It

• What gifts did the wise men bring to Jesus? • Why did Herod get upset about Jesus' birth? • How can we worship Jesus today?

Activity

Star Path

• Cut out paper stars and tape them on the floor to make a path. • Follow the stars to a manger scene or cross. • Talk about how the star led the wise men to Jesus—and how God leads us to Him too.

Prayer

Dear God, thank You that Jesus is the King for all people everywhere. Help us to worship Him like the wise men did. Amen.

Family Challenge

Wrap three little boxes and put them near your nativity set. Say together: "Jesus is our greatest treasure."
