Big Idea:
God hears His people's cries and sends a deliverer. Jesus is the greater Deliverer who saves us from sin.
Read Together
Exodus 3:7–8 – "Then the Lord said, 'I have surely seen the affliction of my people… and I have come down to deliver them.'"
Matthew 1:21– "She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
The Story
God's people were slaves in Egypt. They worked hard, and Pharaoh was cruel. He even ordered baby boys to be killed.
But God saw their suffering. He protected a baby named Moses, placing him in a basket on the river. Pharaoh's daughter found him and raised him as her own.
Years later, God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and said: "I have heard the cries of my people. I will send you to deliver them."
Moses wasn't perfect. He was scared and made mistakes. But God used him to lead His people out of Egypt.
Advent Connection
Moses' story reminds us that God hears, cares, and rescues. But Moses only pointed to a greater Deliverer—Jesus.
At Christmas we celebrate that God came down Himself in Jesus to save us, not just from slavery in Egypt, but from slavery to sin.
