Big Idea:
What others mean for evil, God uses for good. Joseph's story points us to Jesus, the Beloved Son who was rejected, but later exalted to save.
Read Together
Genesis 50:20– "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive."
John 3:16– "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
The Story
Joseph was Jacob's favorite son, and his brothers hated him for it. They threw him into a pit and sold him as a slave.
In Egypt, Joseph served in Potiphar's house, but was falsely accused and thrown in prison. Things seemed hopeless.
But God was with Joseph. He gave Joseph the ability to interpret dreams, and eventually Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of the whole land of Egypt. When famine came, Joseph's brothers had to come to him for food.
Joseph could have taken revenge, but instead he forgave them. He told them: "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good."
