Big Idea:
God chose Abraham by grace and promised to bless the world through him. Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise.
Read Together
Genesis 12:2–3– "I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing… and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
Galatians 3:16– "Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring… who is Christ."
The Story
Abraham wasn't a special man who had earned God's attention. In fact, he worshiped false gods in a faraway land. But God called him anyway. God told Abraham to leave his home and trust Him for a new future.
God promised Abraham three things:
• A land.
• A family.
• A blessing for the whole world.
This sounded impossible! Abraham and Sarah were old, and they couldn't have children. Yet God promised them more descendants than the stars in the sky.
God was saying: "I will do this, not because you deserve it, but because of my grace."
Advent Connection
Abraham's story points straight to Jesus. The blessing wasn't just for Abraham's family but for all nations. And Paul tells us that the promised "offspring" is Christ.
At Christmas we celebrate that Jesus—the child of Abraham—was born so that the whole world could be blessed through Him.

Activity
Starry Promise
• Go outside at night (or use glow-in-the-dark stars or stickers inside). • Count as many stars as you can. • Remember God's promise: Abraham's family of faith would be as many as the stars. • Write: "Jesus is the promised blessing." on the paper.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for choosing Abraham and giving him amazing promises. Thank You that Jesus is the true Son of Abraham, who blesses the whole world. Help us trust Your promises this Advent. Amen.
Family Challenge
At dinner, let each person share one promise of God they are thankful for. Then say together: "God's promises are sure in Jesus."
